Various Sections of Radiotherapy Department

Out Patient Department (OPD): Radiotherapy department runs daily OPD. Here new and old cancer patients on follow up are managed.
Teletherapy section: The department has three Cobalt-60 teletherapy machines. Here, a beam of radiation emitted from the above mentioned machines treats patients.

Brachytherapy section: The department has state of the art HDR Brachytherapy facilities commissioned in January 2005. Here patients are treated by placing radiation source directly inside the tumor. At present all Oncologists consider Brachytherapy as a very important modality of treatment for cancer. Therefore, Brachytherapy itself is a separate branch of Radiation Oncology/Radiotherapy Department.
Chemotherapy section: Here cancer patients are daily treated by chemotherapy/biologic therapy on OPD and indoor basis.
Radiotherapy Simulator: Here radiation field placement is done to ensure the accuracy of the teletherapy and image acquisition is done to know the spatial position of applicators in Brachytherapy. This ensures precision and accurate radiation treatment.

Radiotherapy Treatment Planning and Implementation section: For proper radiotherapy planning and dose calculation  Radiotherapy treatment-planning system is used.
Mould room and workshop: In this section patient immobilization devices, shielding devices etc. are made for each patient, which are used during treatment.
Radiotherapy ward: This department has a 60 bedded ward where patients are admitted for radiotherapy and chemotherapy. However all patients admitted in other wards of the hospital are also treated daily in radiotherapy Dept whenever indicated.
