State of Art Equinox

From Bhomi Poojan to Inauguration
Medical College and Hospital Rohtak was established in 1960 in joint Collaboration with Medical College Patiala and later shifted to Rohtak in 1963. On 1st April 1995 it was upgraded to Pt BDS Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences Rohtak. The Department of Radiation Oncology came into existence in the year 1977. On 7th Dec 1977 this institution got its first fully rotational Theratron 765 cobalt teletherapy unit. The new building of Regional Cancer Centre has been inaugurated on 20th Dec 1988.
In 1990s this institution got another cobalt teletherpy machine, facility for intracavitary brachytherapy and other equipment required for a full fledged radiotherapy department. This institute has been upgraded into Regional Cancer Centre (RCC) under National Cancer Control Programme by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India in 1999. The planning of all the patients receiving Radiotherapy is done through Simulator CT machine, which is in existence from 10th Sept 1999. Theratron 765 was replaced by our state of art telecobalt Theratron 780E machine on 8th August 2005. Regional Cancer Centre is equipped with Microselectron Brachytherpy unit, which was commissioned on 12th Feb 2005. Our department is having a competent team of Radiation Oncologists, Physicists and dedicated residents.

RCC Rohtak especially department of radiation therapy, pgims is the apex centre which take care of the whole cancer burden in the state of Haryana.. the centre boasts about a wide patient drainage from Calcutta to Afghanistan and Nepal.
Cancer management has come a whole loong way from just chemotherapeutic agent to even monoclonal antibodies,, and our centre is proud to say that we have been upto date with all these latest modalities..
Academic activities including cancer education among students as well as patients are in full swing especially with the CANCER DAY as well as the up-to date seminar sessions..

Hi Dr Anil,

Really a Great work. Nice presentation of the department of Radiation Oncology. There is still an unsaid volume of goodness and quality in the department that can only be experienced while being among the gentle and talented doctors out there, whether in patient dealing, treatment, academics or extra-curricular activities.
