Dr. Vivek Kaushal, MD, DNB, Sr. Professor and Head, Radiotherapy Dept has been a Gold Medallist in his academic carrier and has won many medals and top positions in MBBS career. Dr. Kaushal did his MD radiotherapy from Prestigious PGIMER Chandigarh and was awarded Silver Medal (First order) in MD radiotherapy. After successfully completing his senior residency in PGIMER Chandigarh for 3 years. Dr. Kaushal won the Commonwealth scholarship for cancer research in the United Kingdom. He has been a visiting fellow in Cookridge Hospital Leeds and Christie Hospital and Holt Radium Institute Manchester. He worked as Senior Registrar in Royal Marsden Hospital, England in Dept. of Radiotherapy & Oncology for one year. Offered a job in United Kingdom which he declined, he came back to India to Head the Dept of Radiotherapy Mohan Dai Oswal Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation Ludhiana. He joined PGIMS Rohtak as a faculty member in 1990.
He is the Founder Member of Indian College of Radiation Oncologists. He is on the editorial board of the Journal of Cancer Research and Therapeutics. Dr. Kaushal was the editor-in-chief of the Journal “Radiation Oncology” for the 11 years. This Journal is the official publication of Northern Chapter of Association of Radiation Oncologist of India. He had been associated with the organisation of CME programmes of the Northern chapter of Association of Radiation Oncologists of India in the capacity of vice president of the association. In addition to being an oncologist he is a national level chess player and has represented Haryana State in National Chess Championship. Dr. Kaushal has more than 200 quality publications in national and international journals of repute. His research work has been quoted in Perez Text Book of Radiotherapy. His main interests are conformal radiation treatment planning, head and neck cancer, gynaecological malignancies and cancer brachytherapy.
